New high school in Andorra

New educational asset for the Principality, an Andorran high school will soon open its doors in La Comella, a few kilometers from the country’s capital, Andorra la Vella. The British College of Andorra will begin teaching in September. It will be housed in an old inn, refitted for the occasion. The work is already well underway. Their cost is estimated between 300,000 and 400,000 euros.

The capacity of this new high school in Andorra will be, for starters, about one hundred students.

Rafael Valverde’s expertise

At the initiative of the project, Rafael Valverde joined to Andorran partners (creation of the British College Overseas company) to develop a structure able to accommodate students in the best conditions, externally.

Rafael Valverde has extensive experience in the development and administration of British colleges listed in Spain. President of the British School of Cordoba until 2005, he is a true lover of the British education system. He founded the St George British Schools Group, which established English schools in the cities of Malaga, Almeria, Seville and Madrid.

Satisfy the demand

Rafael Valverde is very optimistic about the success of the company, as the wait for an English high school in Andorra was palpable for many years. It must be said that the ambitious policy of economic openness of the Principality started for about ten years corresponds to an influx of expatriates coming from all horizons in order to take advantage of the advantageous conditions of business creation in the country.

In Andorra today, many people are eager to entrust the education of their children to an institution offering English language education. This very tangible need will soon be filled, the Andorran British College is now a reality.

Increasing objectives in short-terms

Linguistic immersion will be one of the highlights of the first year of this new high school in Andorra. The main goal will be to give students a sufficient level of English to consolidate the quality of the lessons afterwards.

Then, in the longer term, one of the other objectives of the British College in Andorra is to welcome children from the age of 3 and their retention until university entrance.

New British College in Andorra following the footsteps of Gava?

This unprecedented project in the Principality represents a great challenge and a bet worthy of Valverde’s expectations. It intends to build on the example and success of the same type of structure built in Gava, a Spanish city near Barcelona, in 2015.

The school had also started its activities from a staff of one hundred students. Two years later, there were more than 300. A real success, and above all, optimal reception conditions, with twenty students per class.

In order to realize a desire to a new start, you must have the certainty of a successful arrival.Virginie Hergel

Focus on British College

A new high school in Andorra with a strong culture

The model developed by Rafael Valverde for Andorran High School British College will be based on the educational program developed by the British Council (which regulates the sector of student education and education in Great Britain), as well as on the use of new technologies, which will be part of the daily system. Classes will be equipped with interactive boards and students will have iPads.

The philosophy of the British College will be focused on the development of all intellectual skills as well as artistic and sports skills of its students. In short, a program of excellence and a complete formation, mental, spiritual and physical: Mens sana in corpore sano.
